Ideal sowing temp: 21-35C.

Position:  Sunny.

Sowing: 3 seeds together; 20mm deep; 50 cm apart, direct in final position.

Care: Susceptible to mildew.  Keep moist but NOT wet.

Sprouting: 7-14 days.

Harvest: 45-60 days.

Chakra: Heart. 

Cucurbita pepo

Italian heirloom variety with stripes on the skin.    Compact bush-type plant to 65cm h x 50cm w.  Great in small beds or pots.  Prefers rich, well-drained soil with a neutral pH. Frost tender.

Can be used grated, sliced, or whole and steamed, fried, boiled, roasted or eaten raw. The flowers are also edible and can be used in salads for loads of colour, or deliciously stuffed, battered, and fried.

General note: 
Do not be too hasty to discard seed that does not germinate, seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural requirements for germination to occur. Containers put to one side will often surprise long after they were discarded.
