Sow anytime in frost free areas, can sow indoors 5 weeks before transplanting in cooler areas or after last frost. Water in furrows rather than overhead to reduce disease, declines if waterlogged. Vigorous bush best staked, disease resistant. Suppresses couch grass.
This is the heaviest type of heirloom tomato, known to reach weights of 450g. Produces large, red, flat fruit, perfect for slicing. Use fresh in sandwiches and salads, or cooked in stews, soups and sauces.
Do not be too hasty to discard seed that does not germinate, seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are like their natural requirements for germination to occur. Containers put to one side will often surprise long after they were discarded.
