Stenocarpus Sinuatus 'Firewheel Tree'-TREE seeds
Ideal sowing temp: 18-24C (Avoid the coldest and hottest temps).
Position: Medium to heavy well-drained soil in a protected position.
Preparation: Soak seed overnight in water.
Sowing: Sow seed at a depth of 2-3mm in a seed raising mix.
Care: Keep warm and, with fine mist spray, keep moist too.
Sprouting: 10-28 days.
A tree to about 30m high with a 4m round canopy, usually smaller in cultivation, particularly in cooler areas. Adaptable to a range of climates and will even succeed in dry climates with extra watering.
One of Australia's most impressive trees with dark, glossy green leaves and clusters of small, bright red flowers in spectacular wheel-like arrangements from summer through to autumn. Occurring naturally in rainforests, it is drought resistant but frost tender.
