Ideal soil temp: 20-23C
Position: full sun to part shade
Sowing: 1 mm deep.
Care: Gently pat down, keep moist, and cover seedling tray with cling wrap.
Sprouting: 10-30 days.
Harvest: 90 days.
Trim leaves when stalks reach about 30-60cm in height and new leaves will sprout in their place.
An enduring perennial herb native to Europe and Asia. Extremely hardy and will spread all over the garden unless contained. Great grown in pots. Has an incredible scent when fresh. Can be used fresh or dried in teas, desserts, baking, herbals, and oils, as well as a popular additive to mouthwash, toothpastes, and more. Spearmint leaves can be preserved in salt, alcohol, oil, sugar, or sugar syrup, and are reported to have a number of therapeutic applications including antimicrobial and antioxidant.
