Ideal sowing temp: 20-22C
Position: Sunny (needs light to germinate).
Pre-sowing: Chill seeds at 5C for 3 days in moist sand and then soak seed overnight in warm water.
Sowing: 2mm deep
Sprouting: 7-30 days.
Harvest: Pick leaves as needed when large enough.
**If it gets a flower, pick off immediately or the plant will go to seed.
Chakra: Heart.
Fast easy growing plant to 1.5m high. Has large green leaves with light purple undersides, and a taste between basil & mint. The taste different to Japanese Shiso leaves and have a larger, flatter, and less serrated edge.
Used most commonly in Korea as an edible wrapping for many dishes and shredded to add a lightly minty flavour to other dishes. The young leaves are commonly used in sushi, sashimi, salads, and soups. Also pickled to make perilla kimchi.

General note:
Do not be too hasty to discard seed that does not germinate, seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural requirements for germination to occur. Containers put to one side will often surprise long after they were discarded.
