BILLY BUTTONS

Family: Asteraceae.

Ideal sowing temp: 18-22C.

Position:  Sunny, well drained.

Sowing: 3mm deep.  Scatter direct or sow in trays and cover lightly with fine soil. If sowing in trays transplant when large enough to handle.

Care:  Water with fine mist.  Keep moist but not wet. 

Sprouting: 14-21 days.

Flowering: 10-12 weeks.

Pycnosorus globosus syn. CRASPEDIA globosus.

Endemic to News South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. A hardy perennial with tall straight stems and golden yellow ball-shaped flowers which occur continuously during warmer months. Tolerates frost and coastal conditions.

Excellent for garden beds, pots, and as a dried flower.

They never sprouted. After weeks nothing happened

Oh no! How awful for you. We had no idea until we saw your feedback here Jasmin. While Billy Buttons are known to be a bit difficult to grow at times, we have only heard great feedback so far and we hope you try again and get better results next time. No seedlings yet

I have had these seeds in tubes in a damp little greenhouse for nearly two months but no viable seedlings yet. Two sprouted but died a few days later. Perhaps something ate them? Hoping they will yet sprout and make it to the garden.
