Also known as torch lily, or red hot poker, due to the shape and colour of its flowers. The leaves resemble a lily, and the flowerhead can reach up to 1.5m high. There are many varieties and they bloom at different times during the growing season. Kniphofia Caulescens is usually easier to identify than other varieties because it has quite bluish leaves with a V cross-section. The flowers are usually red, orange, and yellow, and can look like olden day fire torches when in full bloom.
