“Purple Cone Flower”
Ideal sowing temp: 18-22C.
Position: Sunny with free-draining soil.
Sowing: 5mm deep into final position. 50cm apart. Cover lightly with soil to 5mm.
Care: Warm, shaded or semi-shaded position while sprouting. Water with fine mist spray to avoid disturbance of the seed.
Sprouting: 10-20 days.
Flowering: 125-150 days.
PLANT CARE: continue to provide water especially during dry spells. Mulch plants to keep the shallow roots cool in summer. Thin plants once they develop 2-4 leaves and are easily handled.
DESCRIPTION: Herbaceous perennial of grassy plains. Tall daisy flowers in soft pink-purple with a prominent central cone. Loved by beneficial pollinators such as honeybees and butterflies. Makes a good cut flower for the home, and an attractive addition to a cottage style garden. Very cold hardy and drought tolerant once mature. Used in traditional therapeutic applications.
