Native to Queensland, this popular perennial is becoming popular in areas of NSW and Victoria as a landscaping feature specimen. It grows into a large rosette of wide, green leaves before sending up a stalk which can reach 5m in height. The springtime flowering brings a mass of red flowers along this stalk which tends to curve under the weigh it carries, creating a striking arched appearance on the single stalk. With or without blooms, this is a spectacular plant that adds sensation to any garden.
Drought and frost tender, it prefers sunny position with light to well-drained soil.
