Clivia Miniata 'Bush Lily'-FLOWERS-10 seeds
Ideal sowing temp: 18-22C (Avoid the coldest and hottest temps).
Position: Light shade, under trees.
Preparation: Fill a pot with seed raising mix or good quality potting mix. Use a small pot to keep the seed warm.
Sowing: Push the darkest part of the seed slightly into the seed raising mix with the top of the seed still exposed. Place approx. 4 seeds in each pot. Blend seed raising mix with some sand and sprinkle lightly over the seeds to just cover them. Cover the top of the pot with plastic wrap.
Care: Water with fine mist spray to avoid disturbance of the seed.
Sprouting: 10-28 days. Move the plants to their own pots at about 18 months. Flowering usually takes 3 to 5 years.
Grows to around 50cm with strappy green leaves and flowers in shades of orange, red, or yellow colours. Contains small amounts of lycopine making it poisonous.
Clivia seeds are prone to fungus. Germination may be more successful if you soak them and your potting soil in fungicide or diluted bleach before planting. Fill a container with Cactus Mix or African Violet potting mix and soak it thoroughly. Roots usually emerge from the seeds before any leaves. If the roots start growing up rather than down, poke a hole into the soil and gently tuck the roots into it.
****Please note: these are seeds (we are NOT selling these as live plants). Quarantine restrictions and costs prohibit us from selling these seeds to WA, Tas, and Internationally.
***Clivia seeds may grow to flower different colours from their parent plants.
