Family: Cyperaceae.
Ideal sowing temp: 18-22C (Avoid the coldest and hottest temps).
Position: In water to 1m deep & likes either full sun or semi-shade.
Preparation: Smoke tor heat treatment (70C for 30 mins) has been found to improve germination.
Sowing: Propagate using the bog method, where the pot containing the seeds is placed into a saucer of water until germination occurs
Care: Water with fine mist spray to avoid disturbance of the seed.
Sprouting time: varies.
A perennial sedge native to Western Australia.
typically grows to 2.6m. Blooms between September and December producing red-brown flowers. Commonly found around swamps and on the margins of lakes along coastal areas in the Mid West, Wheatbelt, Peel, South West, Great Southern and Goldfields-Esperance where it grows in damp black sandy soils. Drought tolerant.
Excellent for water features & is a great habitat plant for nesting b1rd life.
