Spring to Summer in cooler areas.

Climate:         Warm/Cool

Position:         Prefers a sunny position.  

Sowing:          5mm; at 23 degrees C soil temp.  

Sprouting:      Emerges 10-14days

Harvest:         growing to approx 45cm; uses as required.

Ocimum sanctum or “Rama Tulsi” 

Known as “sacred basil” or “Tulsi”, produces lots of green leaves and pink flower spikes very early in the season, making it a nice ornamental plant as well as edible. The heavenly minty and musky aroma scent is very strong and can be clearly smelled even walking past it.  Tulsi is said to be a powerful corticosteroid modulator, meaning that it has the unique ability to reduce circulating stress hormones in the body.

Do not be too hasty to discard seed that does not germinate, seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural requirements for germination to occur. Containers put to one side will often surprise long after they were discarded.
