'Golden Candlesticks'

Family: Protaceae.

Ideal sowing temp: 18-22C.

Position:  Open & sunny, well-drained.

Preparation: Smoke infusion can be used for Proteaceae, although this species does germinate without it.

Sowing: 1mm deep in well-draining medium.  Cover very lightly with vermiculite.

Care:  Water with fine mist spray to avoid disturbance of the seed. Keep moist but NOT wet.

Sprouting: 21-60 days.

Also known as ‘Hill Banksia’. Native to New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.

A thick shrub to 1.5m high with grey-green, often serrated foliage and yellow or orange flower spikes appearing in Autumn & Winter.  The spikes are approx. 75-100mm wide and up to 450mm long.

Drought and frost resistant and very hardy.  Does not like being waterlogged.

Attracts birds and butterflies. Good for Bonsai, gardens, and large pots.

****Please note: these are seeds (we are NOT selling these as live plants). Quarantine restrictions and costs prohibit us from selling these seeds to WA, Tas, and Internationally.
