Sowing time: Autumn to Spring in warm areas,

                      Spring to Summer in cooler areas.

Climate: 22C soil temp.

Position:  Best grown in full sun with plenty of water.

Sowing: 5mm deep

Sprouting: Emerges 10-14 days.

Harvest: Throughout the summer as required.

A very popular variety in Italian dishes and for making pesto. With large, soft, highly fragrant leaves, Genovese basil is superb used fresh or can be dried for use over winter.

Do not be too hasty to discard seed that does not germinate, seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural requirements for germination to occur. Containers put to one side will often surprise long after they were discarded.
