Sowing temp: 18-22C
Position: Light Shade to Full Sun; Well Drained.
Preparation: Soak in just-boiled water 10-15 hours before sowing. The swollen seed can then be sown, re-treat seeds that have not swollen.
Sowing: 2mm deep.
Care: Keep moist but not wet.
Sprouting: 10-25 days.
Native to East Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. A fast-growing small perennial shrub or tree up to 6m with narrow leaves and pale cream/yellow ball-shaped flowers during Winter-Spring. Nitrogen-fixing. Useful for controlling erosion, hedging, as a shade tree, around bogs and ponds, and as a windbreaker.
Adaptable to most soils but prefers a protected shaded moist position. Drought and frost tender. Some individuals are allergic to Acacia floribunda pollen.
