A vigorous F1 variety with large oblong fruit up to 10-20kg. Pick young fruit for best flavour. The fruits are green with a waxy coating while the flesh is white and sweet. Winter melon thrives in warm climates. Fruits are harvested in late autumn and stored dry over the winter months until required. All parts of plant are edible and used therapeutically for thousands of years in Asia. The hollowed-out gourd can also be used as bowl.
Great for making soups, stews, curries, stir-fry, candy, juice, and tea. Can also be stuffed and roasted like zucchini.
Best grown on some kind of support, well suited to very warm or tropical climates, use of a heat mat recommended in cooler climates.
This variety is an F1 hybrid so not suited for seed saving.
Please note: This item is seeds only, NOT live plants! Quarantine restrictions prohibit us selling or shipping this item to WA, Norfolk Island, Tasmania, or Internationally.
General note:
Do not be too hasty to discard seed that does not germinate, seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural requirements for germination to occur. Containers put to one side will often surprise long after they were discarded.
