‘Clemson Spineless’ seeds

A relative of the hibiscus, this particular variety of Okra has green fruits and stems. The fruits give extra flavor to soups, stews, sauces and curries.

Flowers: Edible.

Sowing time: Spring and Summer (prefers warm soil temps)

Position: Sunny.

Pre treatment:  soak in water overnight before sowing.

Sowing: 5mm deep. Spaced 50cm apart.

Sprouting: Emerge 10-21 days.

Harvest: When pods are young, approx 5 days after flowers have opened.

General note: 
Do not be too hasty to discard seed that does not germinate, seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural requirements for germination to occur. Containers put to one side will often surprise long after they were discarded.
