Family: Myrtaceae.

Ideal sowing temp: 18-22C (Avoid the coldest and hottest temps).

Position:  Open & sunny once matured.

Sowing: 1mm deep.  Cover very lightly with soil but do not bury. Warm, shaded or semi-shaded position while sprouting.

Care:  Water with fine mist spray to avoid disturbance of the seed.

Sprouting: 14-28 days.

Widespread in New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania, Kunzea Ambigua is very hardy.

A medium to large shrub up to 3m H x 4m W.  Some forms can take a lower, weeping habit and it is adaptable to a range of soils but prefers a light to medium soil in an open sunny position. Drought and frost resistant with white, scented flowers at the ends of the branches in Spring.  Attracts lot of birds and the ‘Soldier Beetle’, may also attract the ‘webbing moth’.  May be used for screening, as a feature plant, or as a background shrub.

The leaves may be used to make a tea substitute while it is also said to be the best native plant for adding flavour to roasts.
